Michigan employers can learn from Food Lion lawsuit

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has filed suit against grocery chain Food Lion in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina. The suit, filed Aug. 20, claims that Food Lion failed to provide a reasonable accommodation for a Jehovah's Witness minister when it fired him for being unable to work on Sundays.

Michigan nurse accuses hospital of discrimination, retaliation

With 2014 coming up, it may seem hard to imagine that the family of a hospital patient would ask for only white caregivers and that the hospital would comply with the request. However, according to a discrimination suit filed in Grand Rapids by a nursing supervisor, that's what happened. The defendant in the lawsuit is Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital.
